Built in 1883 by the Lowther family on the downtown square, Lowther's shoe store sold shoes and oxfords "in the patterns & colors that lead the fashion." In 1932 it became the Uptown Cafe, a restaurant still bearing that name at the turn of the 21st century.  The cafe was re-opened in August 2008 by Kristie Whitesell to continue a downtown tradition. 

Today the café is a local favorite, serving up the best in comfort food from biscuits and gravy to chicken salad to homemade cookies.  So please stop by and enjoy, we will be sure to save you a seat.
